Point of No Return

June 30th, 2008

No living human beings with the greatest science ever known can save the planet or it’s future. The evolutionist is forced to become a devolutionist as he marvels over six legged frogs and all of nature becomes a carnival and freak show. World War Three has begun or World War One is concluding, depending whether one sees a single war with a changing cast of characters and cease fires, or a hundred years of peace punctuated with violent outbreaks to be numbered. The age of man has concluded and it will require one thousand years of Kingdom Age to clean up man’s mess. Perhaps you think I exaggerate. If you cannot see this, try opening your eyes. See if you have been totally robbed of your imagination.

For many of us, George Bush and his super rich puppet masters are the New Age heralds. As the violent take the kingdom by force as prophesied, the righteous look to heaven as their redemption draws near. As the blood runs in the streets, now in Baghdad and Beirut, tomorrow in America, the world watches the last prophecies unfold and terror prevails despite the promises of impotent war mongers. The excess of evil in the White House can repent tomorrow and not a thing will change.

If you have been unable to believe in a god who would create such men as would rule the world, you will now have unlimited opportunities to reconsider. If you believe the sacrifice for global democracy has been borne by too few, we are all about to catch up with them. The most imaginative of us cannot conceive of our immediate future. Lately I have been grieving that even as millions of eyes are opening only to panic from the new vision, most remain certain the more things change, the more they stay the same. It is like feeling sorry for the folks who ridiculed Noah as he built his ark. They will not hear, they are not supposed to hear or see, to serve as an object lesson for those who do and all the generations to follow. As the water rained down on Noah, the fire which we cannot get enough of, has begun to rain down on us, as prophesied. Seeing this more clearly, a great burden is lifted from my spirit.

As the prophets before me, I speak to those with ears to hear and eyes to see and care not for their names or numbers. If my words mean nothing to anyone, I am not offended. I do what I must do and others all do quite the same. I recently spoke to a proud conservative Republican and asked if he would help me launch a political revolution. He said sure, except he is a very busy man, making lots of money and knows not where he can find the time. It seems the rich and poor now share the same dilemma. No free time. No freedom of any kind whatsoever. There are wars to finance and other great wonders to support. Blessed are the homeless and retired and the prisoners, for they alone have time to consider. And this freedom we do not have is being exported to the rest of the world. Liberty and justice for all.

Now those who have understanding and hope to save the planet can relax. Take a break for twenty years or so. They are not responsible for the near future. It is written. It comes to pass regardless of resistance. For the One who created it all and placed it in the care of mankind, has made His point. No one can deny six thousand years of failure except those who insist it should continue and they are now endangered species. The Lord has once again become the landlord and the unruly tenants are about to be violently evicted. Let them live by their swords, for their time has come, their days are numbered. We have passed the point of no return. Praise God.

Pocket Watches and the State of Them Today

June 10th, 2008

Pocket Watches were overtaken by wristwatches in popularity after World War I, although they do seem to be making a comeback! It was a status symbol in the old days before the advent of wristwatches your average Joe could not afford a Pocket-Watch. One thing that might have had a direct bearing on the down-fall of popularity of these marvelous time pieces was that they were being given away for retirement. Thus people associated them with retirement which is associated with old age or obsolescence.

Vintage pocket watches are actually a sound investment, if you’re a knowledgeable or savvy buyer. What I have always found fascinating about the pocket watch is the absolute beauty and uniqueness of them. My father still swears by them and has no use for any other sort of time piece. Today’s pocket time-pieces are well made and you can find an absolute plethora of design options with chronographically enhanced features. These types of watches are quite unique and using them does enable you to make a statement of personal expression. These modern day Pocket-Watches are simply beautiful and are a marvelous conversation peace. They may also break a nasty habit of staring at your wrist.

The pocket watch was invented by Peter Henlein of Nuremberg Germany in 1510. The first pocket style watches were in fact carried in your hand as they were made of iron. They would have been quite the anchor if carried in your pocket. To make the watch a bit more appealing they started using different materials in order to make them more light and elegant, then a rope was attached and they were hung about the neck. Eventually the watches got a bit lighter and migrated down to pockets. The display is traditionally analog. Pocket watches generally have a chain to be secured to a belt loop (the chain or ornaments on it being know as fobs), as well as a hinged cover to protect the face of the watch. Such covers are not always present. Also common are fasteners designed to be put through a buttonhole and worn is a jacket or waistcoat, this sort being frequently associated with and named after train conductors.

Men’ Pocket-watches are commonly regarded as being one of two types: the lepine or the savonette. In a strict technical sense, the lepine is a watch whose winding stem is in line with the seconds-marking dial found on the face. The savonette has winding stem perpendicular to the orientation of the seconds dial on the face of the watch.

A lepine is traditionally an open-faced watch with a large, scratch resistant crystal covering the face. A savonette is commonly found in a “hunter” or “consular” case, with a protective lid hinged over the face. A consular case is further differentiated by the fact the back case is also hinged so that the watch movement can be easily separated from both halves of its protective cover.

Modern manufacturers of pocket watches, especially those watches with a quartz movement, are not bound by tradition when regarding the orientation of movements (lepine or savonette) and the cases they are inserted into (open-faced or hunter). It is possible today to find watches with lepine orientation in a closed faced hunter case, and vice versa.

It never hurts to be well-informed in regards to Pocket Watches. I trust this has cleared the air somewhat!

A Gift Of Immense Value - Buying A Tag Heuer Sports Watch For A Loved One

June 3rd, 2008

When my son who was on vacation from college telephoned me long distance and said he would like to visit me to get some help to accompany him to select and purchase a Tag Heuer Sports Watch, I was not at all surprised. After all, Tag Heuer Sport Watches are well known for their quality and value.

So three days later, we headed off to the Watta Time Watch Shop and was greeted by the Sales Supervisor.

The first thing you should know in buying a Tag Heuer sports watch is that Tag Heuer watches come in different ranges. The brand Tag Heuer is synonymous with sports, and there were three ranges that were introduced to us. The first range was the Formula 1 sports range which did not appeal to us as they were far too rugged and looked really roughly made, then Year 2000 series which was being phased out and the new Aquaracer series.

The Aquaracer series appealed to us most. This range refers to the Tag Heuer sports watches designed primarily to withstand aqua activities and sports, and the watches would be able to withstand a good depth of water pressure. It was too bad, the Sales Supervisor did not felt it of any purpose to tell us exactly the technical details or how deep it can go under the water or what water pressure it can withstand, so we are none the wiser.

The second thing to know in buying the Tag Heuer watch is that of the color of the watch face. The watch face can be a dark face of black or dark blue or a white face. Normally a dark face watch would look really smart on my son’s wrist, but this time around the dark face watch that was tried out on my son’s wrist did not look any smarter or nicer at all. Even the Sales Supervisor agreed that when the watch was viewed independently as a standalone on the counter, it looked very smart but not on my son’s wrist. Once again, she failed to offer a reason why, but we can surmised that most probably the design of the watch itself is very much the reason.

The third thing to know in buying a Tag Heuer watch is that of the thickness of the watch. A thicker Tag Heuer watch would cost at least a thousand ringgit (malaysian dollars) more, and there was no reason why someone would want to buy a thicker and a heavier watch, and the Sales Supervisor once again did not take the trouble to explain why. But on further investigation, we found the thickness was due to the fact that the watch was an automatic self winding feature without needing a battery.

The fourth thing to know in buying a Tag Heuer watch is that of incremental value. To get an indication of the rate of gain in annual value, I checked out with a sportswoman who was the most avid tennis player I have ever known. She had purchased a Tag Heuer sports watch some 10 years ago at $2,500 ringgit during a closing down sale from a specialty watch shop. The same series was selling now at $3,500 making an annual increment of $100 per year. So if you are seeking to invest in a Tag Heuer watch with a view for capital gain, you can expect a similar rate of gain in value. If you are looking at better incremental value, you may need to consider other brands.

The final thing to know about buying a Tag Heuer watch is that of warranty. The Sales Supervisor told us that all Tag Heuer watches are guaranteed for a 2 year period. However on checking the manual, it was found that this only applies to watches purchased within the United States of America. The fine print on the warranty card showed a period of just one year for Tag Heuer watches purchased elsewhere.

There are also shops that accept trade in for your current model and an upgrade to a newer and more costlier model. So when you are buying a Tag Heuer watch from such an outlet, make sure you are buying a really new Tag Heuer watch and not getting a refurbished or reconditioned Tag Heuer watch at new prices! By the way, there are unadvertised discounts as well during certain periods of the year.

Consider all these factors when you are buying your Tag Heuer watch and you will find the most suitable and smart looking Tag Heuer watch. You can then enjoy years of good service from your Tag Heuer watch and be able to see it increase in value as the years go by.

It will also make a good watch if you are buying one for your loved one, especially for those memorable occasions such as Valentine day or birthdays, and can even have a Tag Heuer watch that is paired for a He and a She. Tag Heuer watches can put a dash of romance as well for love-birds!

Humor and Finding Your Perfect Match

June 2nd, 2008

Recently, someone I know created a web site to meet Ms Right. In
his site he shared in great detail who he was and what he was
looking for. A great idea and nicely written with lots of humor.

After reading it, the humor side of my brain started asking
questions.

If I were designing my own personal web site, would it be
appropriate to include Google Ads.

Reasons for listing Google Ads.

1. If readers were bored with my biography, they would have convenient places
to go.

2. If readers loved what they saw and they sent their friends to
the site to check me out, their friends could shop for wedding
gifts while they were there.

3. If the site got no responses, at least I’d make a few bucks on
the side.

Reasons for not listing Google Ads.

1. The ads might be more interesting than my biography.

2. They might run ads for someone else’s personal web site.

3. They might run ads for divorce attorneys.

That got me thinking about seven years ago when I was creating my
own internet personal ads looking for the right person. Did you
know that when you tell people you’re looking for someone with
three eyes, people with only two eyes will respond to your ad
anyway?

I also discovered that a generic ad, maybe 25-50 words, usually
received no response. So I experimented with a long-form ad, over 1000 words. And would you believe that I included lots of
humor? Every time I posted the longer ad, I received around 50
replies. I’m not sure whether they were attracted to me or to my
writing!

In my ads I included an Online Personals Dictionary with dozens of convenient translations of typical ad phrases into real-world
language. This was a tongue-in-cheek “public service” to help
people understand what personal ads were really saying. Here are a few samples:

In shape = Round is a shape.

Swimmers build = A whale swims.

Honest = Will immediately stop chatting with you once you tell them your age.

Open minded = Brains fell out years ago.

Good looking = Able to look at things really well.

Handsome = A quote from his mother.

Educated = Will treat you like an idiot.

Masculine = Looks like a caveman.

Age is relative = Looks like your uncle.

Athletic = Watches sports on TV.

Visits gym = Loves looking at self in the mirror.

Likes quiet evenings at home, candlelit dinners and walks in the
rain = Not an original thought in his head.

Long-term relationship = More than two weeks in length.

Love at first sight = When two lonesome, non-selective people meet for the first time.

In the ad, throughout my self-description, I would drop in an
occasional bit of humor: “I’ve never robbed a bank. Neither have you. Convenience store OK.”

The response was overwhelmingly positive. I only received one
negative reply in three posting of the longer, humorous ads. One
person suggested I was bitter. The writer was probably very much
in need of a laugh. The response told me it was definitely not a
match for me. The ad was doing its job.

The good news is that I met the love of my life through an online
ad. I now have a terrific relationship and we laugh together every day.

Lance Rants on the Fact that the Iranian Leadership Thinks Americans are Weak

May 15th, 2008

The Iranian Leadership is escalating the rhetoric and building up for war with modern high-tech Chinese and Russian weapons, but why? Why now? Why does Iran want a war? Why does Iran want nuclear weapons? Why does Iran sponsor International Terrorism? Why is Iran sending insurgents into Iraq to kill US Troops? And most importantly why is the United States allowing the Iranians to build Atomic Bombs?

I think my response is why is America suddenly so weak to back track on their ideals. Why is the American Public so afraid to do the right thing when it really matters? Why are some Americans so willing to watch and wait and watch the decline of the free world, and watch the continuing of International Terrorists attacks to human civilian populations. I guess what I wonder is why do you want people to die, while the whole world watches it happen, because you were weak and afraid. Thus letting the problem fester until it is so big it cannot be stopped? Why do you want to allow innocent people to die? Why?

Let’s face facts; Iran is not building Atomic Bombs and Nuclear Warheads for a deterrent as they attempt to purport. And Iran has publicly stated it had signed up more than 200 suicide martyrs to join in International Terrorism to attack Western Targets. So, either we take care of this problem or a whole lot of innocent people are going to die for our failure to intervene. Consider all this in 2006.

A Review Of The Casio WMP-1V MP3 Audio Wrist Watch

April 14th, 2008

The Casio WMP-1V MP3 is an interesting product. Is it a watch like every regular watch? Yes and no, depending on what you mean by a regular watch. If for you, a watch means a timepiece or any instrument that tells the time, then the answer is a big “Yes”. However, if for you it means a small unobtrusive timepiece, then it is not.

Now to another question, Is this an MP3 player? Yes, if you refer to the ability to play files in that audio format. But a big “No” if you think of a player with the capabilities of an iPod.

The Casio WMP-1V MP3t has a lot of features jammed into it for such a small gadget. For its weight (70 grams) it does have a lot of features.

Now let’s get into this piece. It has poorly designed buttons since they are not very responsive. You’ll have to take out some time just to learn to use them. This is not just a personal opinion. I asked a few users too and they had similar complaints. However, they do their job, though. If you have some time to spend learning the ins and outs of this watch you probably will enjoy all the extras that come with it. But if you are not very technically inclined this watch will not be a good match for you.

The fast-forward and rewind buttons are also used to scan through songs. However, I was not really happy with the mode button. This mp3 player/watch has four modes. You’ll have to keep pressing through all the play modes before you can set you equalizer (Yes, this wrist watch also has an equalizer). I guess I’m so used to easier navigation that I’ve not given due consideration to the fact that there are few buttons. This gives the designers less options.

If you want the best wrist watch, look somewhere else. If you want the best mp3 player, try an iPod. But if you want a bit of both, the Casio WMP-1V MP3 is for you. That is if you don’t mind wearing a wristwatch that’s about four times your usual size.

This watch is a great piece if you want a secure MP3 player for running and doing other outdoor activities. It definitely is not going to fall off once you have it strapped to your wrist. But for its size I really was just not that impressed. Perhaps if the buttons were a little easier to navigate through then this watch would be more appealing to me, also if it was a tad bit smaller and fit on my wrist in a more natural way.

Location! Location! Location! Best Places to Shop for Pocket Watches

April 7th, 2008

For the pocket watch lovers out there who are interested in adding to your collection, many places are available to help you out. Partly due to demand, the antique and pocket watch industry has increased over the past few years. Because of this, many have taken interest in buying, selling, and even trading pocket watches.

An antique store is the best resource in locating a pocket watch. As obvious as it may sound, this is the ultimate resource, however, there are a large number of people that overlook this option when searching for a pocket watch. If you can find an antique store that specializes in jewelry, it will make the chances of you finding that perfect pocket watch that much greater.

An alternative to an antique store is a flea market. There are many bargains available at flea markets and if you find a great flea market, you may just find a great pocket watch for a great price. Not only could you end up saving money, but you could find the pocket watch you have been looking for.

If you did not have any luck at the antique store or flea market, another place to locate pocket watches is at a garage sale. Garage sales are very “hit or miss”, but if you do happen to find a pocket watch, you can get it for fractions of what it may cost at an antique store. This is the cheapest way to find a great pocket watch, however, it may take longer to find what you are after.

These are just a few places you can begin your search for the perfect pocket watch. Be sure to shop around and compare the prices between vendors. Sometimes you could even get them to knock off a few bucks if you mention that you saw one at another shop that you were interested in. With the resurgance of antiques and pocket watches in general, chances are that you can easily find the one you are looking for at a great price.

As an author at eZ-search, Chris Miller contributes to the growing content found within the site and shares his knowledge about pocket watches.
